Introduction to Cold Process Soap Making | Join us for a comprehensive introduction to the art of cold process soap making at RavenSong Soap & Candle Classes. This hands-on workshop is designed for beginners who are eager to explore the craft of creating luxurious, handmade soap.

What You Will Learn:

• Basic Techniques: Master the fundamental steps of cold process soap making, including precise measurement, color integration, scenting, and achieving trace.

• Design Fundamentals: Discover the basics of soap design, utilizing colors, fragrances, and essential oils to craft unique and personalized soaps.

• Swirl Techniques: Get acquainted with two popular swirl techniques—In the Pot Swirl and In the Mold Swirl—to enhance your soap's visual appeal.

Head Facilitator: Valerie Lamirande, a Haida Elder and Master Artisan Soapmaker, brings over 25 years of experience in the handcrafted bath and body industry. Valerie is transitioning into a new role as a mentor and teacher, guiding new business partners Cody and Alissa Assu as they step into the world of artisan soapmaking and handcrafted body care. With a deep connection to her heritage and an unwavering commitment to her craft, Valerie is dedicated to passing on her knowledge and skills to the next generation of makers, ensuring the longevity and growth of this artisan trade.

In addition to her hands-on expertise as a soapmaker, Valerie has played a pivotal role in the broader industry. She was a former board member of the Handcrafted Bath & Body Guild (HBBG), a Canadian federally incorporated not-for-profit organization founded in 2016. Valerie is also one of the founding partners of the Guild, which serves as the professional organization representing bath and body handcrafters across Canada.
